If you live in Ponte Vedra Beach, chances are you have already done a great deal for your teen. There may have been weekly therapy appointments, conversations with the school counselor, a visit or two to the pediatrician, and a lot of late nights reading about what might help. If things still feel like they are slipping, that is not a sign that you have done something wrong.

More often, it means your son or daughter needs more structure and support than a single weekly hour can provide. That is exactly the gap HavenRise Academy was built to fill, a short drive west of the beaches in Jacksonville’s Deerwood Park.

We are an outpatient mental health program designed specifically for teenagers in grades 6 through 12, and that focus shapes how we assess, treat, and run our groups.

Because our care is outpatient, your teen continues to live at home and stays connected to school, friends, and the routines that ground them. There are no overnight stays and no sending your child away, just specialized, evidence-based care close enough to fit into real life.

Outpatient care close to home

Families come to us from across Ponte Vedra and Ponte Vedra Beach, from the Sawgrass area down to the Nocatee line, and the run west on JTB to Deerwood Park is short enough that a morning IOP session or a full PHP day stays workable. We will be honest with you about timing, since JTB can be slow at rush hour, and we will help you build a schedule that fits around school, work, and the realities of getting across the Intracoastal.

Our programs for Ponte Vedra Beach teens

We offer a full continuum of outpatient care, so the intensity of support can match what your teen actually needs and ease up as they make progress.

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is our most structured option, a full day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for teens who need consistent daily support to stabilize and find their footing. Because that is a full day away from the classroom, we provide on-site academic support so your teen can keep pace with coursework while they focus on getting well.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets several mornings a week, combining group and individual work in a focused block of time. Holding these sessions in the morning is deliberate. It gives your teen real treatment while leaving room for school and home life for the rest of the day, with groups that move from connection and goal-setting to emotional awareness and practical skills like stress management and communication.

Our Outpatient Program (OP) provides weekly therapy and counseling, a fit for teens beginning with a lighter level of support or stepping down from PHP or IOP to protect the gains they have made. For many Ponte Vedra families who arrive already in weekly therapy, the more intensive programs are the missing middle step, and we help you find the right one.

Our approach to treating teens

There is no single therapy that works for every teen, so we do not pretend otherwise. We start by understanding your child, then draw on several evidence-based approaches, often together, to meet them where they are.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT is a cornerstone of our work and one of the most thoroughly researched approaches for teens who experience intense emotions. It teaches four practical skill sets: tolerating distress without making things worse, regulating strong emotions, navigating relationships, and staying present through mindfulness.

For a teenager whose feelings seem to run the show, these are concrete tools to use in the moment, not just topics to discuss.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Much of what weighs on a teen lives in their thinking, in beliefs like “I am not good enough,” “I will let everyone down,” or “nothing I do matters.” CBT helps them catch those patterns and replace them with more realistic, compassionate ones. Alongside DBT, it gives teens both the insight to understand their feelings and the means to respond differently.

Trauma-informed care

When trauma is part of the story, pushing a teen to talk before they are ready can do harm, so we do not. Every member of our team works from a trauma-informed model that puts safety, trust, and a teen’s sense of control first.

For teens who need it, we use Trauma-Focused CBT, the gold standard for adolescents, to gently correct the beliefs trauma can leave behind, along with somatic work that helps them reconnect with their bodies and release the tension they hold.

Therapy alongside peers, not in isolation

In a community where appearances can carry a lot of weight, many teens become experts at looking fine while struggling beneath the surface. One of the most powerful moments in treatment is when a teen realizes they are not the only one.

Our groups are age-specific, grades 6 through 12, with no adults in the room, so teens can set down the performance, practice new skills in real time, and hear their own experience reflected back by peers who understand it. For many families, this is the part of the program their teen values most.

Family healing alongside your teen

A teen does not struggle in a vacuum, and recovery does not happen in one either. We bring parents into the work, not to assign blame, but to lower the temperature at home and rebuild connection.

Often, what looks like defiance is a skills gap rather than a motivation problem, and your son or daughter may simply lack the brakes to stop big emotions from taking over. When the whole household learns the same language and skills, the steadiness your teen builds in our groups has somewhere to land at home.

What treatment looks like day to day

Most families want a clear picture of what they are walking into, so here is the shape of it. Care begins with a conversation and an assessment, where we get to know your teen and recommend the level of care that fits. From there, a program day blends group work, individual therapy, and hands-on skill practice, with PHP filling the school day and IOP holding to the mornings.

You will not be left on the outside, since families meet regularly with the care team to review progress and plan the step down to lighter care as your teen stabilizes. You can get a fuller sense of a typical day and how school fits alongside treatment.

What we help Ponte Vedra Beach teens work through

Families reach out when a teen is carrying more than they can manage alone. We support teens through anxiety, depression, self harm, trauma and PTSD, emotional and behavioral dysregulation, and school refusal. Whether your daughter has grown quiet and withdrawn or your son is angry and shutting you out, there is a path forward, and we will help you find it.

Signs it may be time to reach out

In a high-achieving community, it is easy to read a teen’s struggle as a rough stretch they will power through. Sometimes they do. It may be time for more structured support when the changes stop feeling temporary, including grades sliding, a pulling away from friends and once loved activities, escalating anger or shutdowns at home, missed school or refusal to go, or anything pointing to self-harm.

It is especially worth a call if your teen is already in weekly therapy and it no longer seems to be enough. If you are unsure, our is my teen a good fit guide can help, and so can a short conversation with our team.

Why Ponte Vedra Beach families choose HavenRise

Ponte Vedra parents tend to research carefully and ask good questions before trusting anyone with their child, and we welcome that. Families choose us for our singular focus on adolescents, our blended and evidence-based clinical approach, and a credentialed team that can speak plainly about how care works and what progress should look like.

The short trip west on JTB makes consistent attendance realistic, and our calm space in Deerwood Park feels nothing like a hospital. Discretion matters too, and families trust that their teen is cared for thoughtfully and privately.

Working with Ponte Vedra Beach schools

Stepping away from the classroom raises real questions, especially for families at Ponte Vedra High School and Alice B. Landrum Middle School, as well as those at The Bolles School or Episcopal School of Jacksonville across the river.

Our team helps coordinate excused absences and works with school counselors to keep your teen’s education on track, with academic and school support built into our PHP day so the return to a full class schedule is as smooth as possible. The goal is always for your teen to come back steadier, not behind.

Insurance and getting started

We work with families to make care accessible and will walk you through coverage and options up front, so cost is one less unknown during an already stressful time. You can review the details on our insurance and financing page. When you are ready, reaching out is simple, and there is no pressure, just a conversation about your teen and what they need.

Questions Ponte Vedra Beach parents ask

How far is HavenRise from Ponte Vedra Beach?

A short drive west on JTB to our Deerwood Park location, roughly 15 to 25 minutes depending on where in Ponte Vedra you start and the time of day. We will help you plan around JTB traffic.

We already have a therapist. How is this different?

Weekly therapy is a great foundation, but some teens need more than an hour a week. Our PHP and IOP add daily structure, group support, and skill practice, and we are glad to coordinate with your teen’s existing therapist.

Will my teen fall behind at Ponte Vedra High?

We build academic support into the PHP day and coordinate excused absences with the school, so your teen can keep up with coursework while they focus on getting well.

Can my teen stay enrolled at their school during PHP?

Yes. Your teen stays enrolled at Ponte Vedra High, Landrum, or their private school, and we support continuity so the return to a full schedule is smooth.

What is the difference between PHP, IOP, and OP?

PHP is a full day program, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for teens who need the most structure. IOP meets several mornings a week and leaves the rest of the day for school and home. OP is weekly therapy and counseling. Many teens step from one level to the next as they improve.

Do you only use DBT?

No. DBT is a cornerstone, but we combine it with CBT, trauma-focused approaches, family therapy, and peer group work, matching the methods to what your teen actually needs.

Are the groups only for teens?

Yes. Our therapy groups are age specific, grades 6 through 12 with no adults in the room, which helps teens open up and practice new skills with peers who understand what they are going through.

How private is this?

Discretion is built into how we operate. We understand that in a close community privacy matters, and we handle every family’s information and care with confidentiality.

Do you take our insurance?

We work with many plans and will verify your coverage and explain your options before you commit to anything. Start on our insurance and financing page or call us directly.

How soon can we get started?

Often quickly. The first step is a conversation, and we will move at the pace that is right for your family.
